Whole Tobacco Leaves

Hi all. I’m looking at getting some whole leaves and making my own pipe tobacco. As a Canadian, I’ve found that I can buy and import the whole leaves, without the crazy taxes, as it remains an agricultural product until processed. I don’t want to end up with a pile of garbage so I’m seeking the wise input of my fellow B&Bers. I’m looking at probably going about 60/35/5 Virginia/burley/perique possibly in plug form. Any thoughts on casing with Vanilla extract, or cellaring. Has anyone used any recipes that are comparable to a commercial brand. Thanks in advance for the help. Of course I’ll still be pursuing the commercial brands for my newest AD, and the variety is nice, but looking for a good general purpose tobacco on the cheap and if I can make it an aromatic the wife will be more tolerant. (Think Captain Black Royal)
