The razor I try to use whenever I have a 24-hour beard: the lowly postwar Tech in gold with a fat handle, loaded with a Feather blade (2). The combo of mild razor and sharp sharp blade works well and, if I don't try for BBS on a 24-hour set of whiskers, I wind up with a good comfortable shave.
"Lowly"? Only in that it was the low-priced model in Gillette's line way back when. They offered more expensive razors and sets if you wanted that, but the Tech would get you clean-shaven without any drama.
