(not to be confused with the shaving cream). This stuff is pricey at $20 a bottle. It says it can form a lather with or without a brush. Has anyone tried it? What is the scent?

uhhh... Are you maybe confusing the cream and the lotion? 
I remember the cream packaging saying something about brushless use. The Lotion (in German: Rasierwasser = lit. 'shaving water') is a chamomille/myrrh scented concoction to be used as regular AS splashes. Doesn't smell too great IMO, but some guys swear by its healing properties.

Over on Smallflower.com, they have three Weleda products. Shaving cream, shaving lotion, and a/s balm.
Actually, I just visited the site again. They might have put the descriptions under the wrong product. It doesn't mention the lotion as an aftershave. Their mistake.

This is a different product that is not available at smallflower.com. There are also quite a few vendors where one can find Weleda shaving creme for a lot less than at smallflower.com.
