wallet suggestions

I received a wallet about 9 years ago for the holidays and have used it ever since. It is a black leather Kenneth Cole New York bi-fold with a picture flap on the right inside fold. The picture window is on the back side, and the top has 2 slots for cards/ids. It’s a great wallet, but its on its last legs. The stitching is falling apart and it looks beaten. I hate to see it go because its been with me so long and I can’t imagine parting with it for something that isn’t comparable.
I’ve been doing some shopping and found some that I liked and wanted to get the group’s opinion.
• Ferragamo Revival – bifold with a textured leather but pricey! Around $280
• Mont Blanc – bifold similar stamp as ferragamo but slimmer and pricey. 250
• Cole Haan – black simple, clean. 95
• Kenneth Cole – its bigger than mine, and the picture flap has the frame on the outside, comes with a keychain. 60
• Martin Dingman – in calf or alligator, traditional and very nice. Hand made. 145.
I have to stop by hugo boss, because their wallets are modern, slick, compact and should fit the bill.
Any other suggestions?

I have a Ferragamo that a girlfriend talked me into buying and yes, it is pricey. I like buying nice stuff, but it did freak me out a bit.

But I have to tell you, it's a great leather wallet and it frankly is freaking me out that after nearly two years it does not even look used at all. I'm sitting on this thing everyday for two years and it shows no signs of wear. None. Zip.

I'm pretty amazed.

edit; I just looked up the Revival wallet you mentioned and that's exactly what I have. I don't know how they treated or processed the leather, but it's unbeliveable.

Here's what I carry.

I carry the bills turned 90 degrees from the photo. Hard to tell from the picture but this thing is BIG - it easily holds a 3/4 inch thick stack of credit cards, drivers license, business cards, club cards, etc. etc. It slips in my front pocket - no thieves and no sitting on a fat wallet like George Costanza.

my wallet is going on roughly 9 years as well. i can't remember exactly, but it's either walmart or kohls, made of buffalo. for the price, when i need a new one those are the first two places i'll look. $20 and under.

I carry a "George" bi-fold with flip-over ID flap that I suspect very strongly is a Chinese copy of the OP's wallet - sounds awfully similar. My wife got it for me and I am sure it probably cost around 20 bucks or so at Wal Mart. Maybe less. Best wallet I've ever carried.

Here is the other issue. i work in banking and have to wear suit and ties almost all the timeso have to also have a wallet thats classic. Plus I would like it to be stylish.

I do like the idea of a money clip, but I rarely carry any cash.

A money clip will also hold credit cards, ID, etc. You just need a single dollar bill to wrap around them. Plus, you can put a money clip in a suit or jacket pocket just like any other wallet.

Or you can get a money clip designed to hold cash AND cards.
Slim Clip

After dealing with a round of sciatica, I decided to get a money clip. I saw the Slim Clip on the "as seen on TV rack" at Staples and picked it up for $9. I expecte dit to be garbage, but it's actually well designed and has decent grip. It holds cash on one side, and will hold several cards on the other -- the card side has guides to keep the cards from sliding out sideways.

Then just get the credit card holder. Very slim, very stylish. If you have any cash, you can stuff it into one of the slots by folding it up. Carrying an emergency $20 in that manner is probably a good idea. The one kuharious posted is similar to mine. But mine has two more slots on the other side instead of that clear ID holder. Those ID holders never work, always have to take my ID out anyway.
