Wahl-Eversharp Resurrection

A group of pen enthusiasts has obtained the rights to the Wahl-Eversharp brand and has begun producing and marketing modern versions of the iconic Wahl-Eversharp Skyline pens. The revived brand was just unveiled at the recent Los Angeles Pen Show.

We've been waiting for this -- what a launch! Syd Saperstein, a friend and fellow club member and former treasurer in the PPPC (Pan Pacific pen club) has probably the best collection of vintage Wahl-Eversharp pens in the world. I was lucky enough to see his collection at Pensbury Manor when he still lived in the Bay Area. He has been working hard on this, I wish him the best of luck.

There were also some Italian made copies of the Skyline 10 years ago, CC fillers, but still quite nice. I think wahleversharp.com bought up that tooling from Columbus.

The new versions are being produced in Italy so maybe there's some connection to the previous copies. They are some seriously gorgeous pens!

Indeed, that they are! Although I don't much like that gold ring at the end of the section, those never hold up well.

Excited about this: Nib: Semi-flex Gold Plated Stainless Steel with Ceramic Coating

I set it up wrong, post edited. It sounds like a good nib -- semi-flex, nice! Ceramic coating? -- may last longer than a gold plate, we will have to see about that. I doubt if it affects the performance in any way.

But how will it wear? What about grinding it for custom jobs? I realize you don't know. Something I would just like to see more information on before dropping $200-300 on a cartridge/converter pen.

I doubt if the ceramic is on the iridium tipping surface, or if it is -like on a gold plated nib- it will immediately wear off, leaving the smooth, hard metal to do its job.

Eversharp was probably the first genericized brand name that I heard. When I was a kid almost all mechanical pencils were called 'eversharps' no matter the brand. Along with kleenex and skilsaw it was a pretty common name for that type of pencil. I'm looking forward to seeing some pens.

The pens look nice and the website is flashy, but am I the only one who thinks $150 for a mass produced CC with a steel nib is a bit steep (and that's the base model).

The funny thing is that you can buy refurbished versions of the original for less than this and you'll get a very nice gold nib as well.

Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I can't get too excited about the brand.

I agree. I won't buy another CC pen since I bought my Pelikan.
