Hi guys, I'm new here.
I've been shaving with a Merkur long handle DE razor for a few years now after getting fed up with the cost of Mach 3 razors and problems with irritation. So I understand the value of a good razor and constantly recommend wet shaving to friends - who are pretty hard to convert, honestly.
Anyway, I was running some errands with my girlfriend this morning and she conned me into taking her to an antique show in the next town over. We're both in our 20s and it's not something we'd normally do. Having absolutely no interest in antiques, I was immediately bored. She poked around some jewelry and I trailed close behind, waiting to get the hell out of there.
Long story short, I bought three SE razors - a Star, Gem, and Ever-Ready, all stamped 1912 - from a pleasant little old lady for $15. The Ever-Ready has lost most of its plating, the Star is showing some use, and the Gem is in great condition. I'm not a collector by any means, but I couldn't pass them up, they were too cool.
I guess I should do this kind of thing more often.
