Vintage Star 1912 Question

Just purchased on eBay for a little over $15.00. Is that a good value? Can anyone tell me if the the handle is original?

I know a lot about Ever Ready and GEM, but nothing about Star. Can anyone give me some history on this? Year?

Can anyone show me a picture of theirs including the handle? How does it shave?

My daily driver is a 1912 Gem squat head. Does this Star provide a similar shave? It shaves like a Shovel head, but a little less aggressive and smoother. It has the vertical stripe handle and the weight of the solid brass provides a nice balance.

The original safety razor brought out by the Kampfe Bros was called the Star.

At one point American Safety Razor bought them out and it became another one of their brands. Look at the Wikipedia article on ASR for more details. Your razor is essentially a Gem 1912 pattern with Star branding. That handle doesn't look correct to me, but they did use a variety of styles.

I will read the article. The handle looks nice but you right. It doesn’t look original. Thank you.
