What's new

Tried my new 1930's Gillette Tech today

Really nice little razor! I picked it up primarily as a first razor for my son (he'll be ready to try soon) and am very happy with it.

It is indeed mild and took a few more passes in some areas but it's going to be perfect for him! I'd say it's about like a setting of 2/3 on an adjustable Slim or Fat Boy.

Wow, that looks to be in great shape. I'm sure you son will love it and from what I read it will be a great starter razor. Hopefully he will really enjoy the wet shaving experience and keep enjoying it throughout his life.

Looks like one from 50's to me. You might want to check the date code.

They're small, but they sure are great! I like loading a Feather in them. It's funny how a mild shaver paired with an aggressive blade works wonders.

I think it found it's way into a modern box due to the date code on the razor: A 1

1930A 1/2/3/4
(Letter=year, number=
quarter of year). Only DeLuxe models were serial #'d, starting 1-D

As far as I know, Tech was introduced in 1939, so it cannot be 1930. A 1955 Tech will have A1/2/3/4 code. What's wrong with a great NOS 1955 tech? :)

Ah just noticed they rolled the alphabet! :) And yes absolutely nothing wrong with a minty '55! Especially for $30!

Thanks for pointing that out!

You are welcome. I am sure you and your son will love it. Your razor has probably never been used and came in original box with original blades. Do not try those old blades. Just keep them in the box.
