Taught my youngest son to shave tonight

...but this one IS cracked.
I finally taught my youngest son to shave tonight. I have 4 sons and 1 daughter and I taught 3 of the boys (1 of my son's taught one of the others to shave) and I taught my daughter to use a razor too.

Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic (plastic)
Blade: Derby Extra (1)
Brush: Yaqi Lucky Dice Tuxedo
Soap: SV 70th Anniversary
A/S: Jenny Glow Billionaire
Post Shave: Nivea Hyaluron Gel

This is the last of 4 so I will never get to do this again 😭. My son is 12 and has shaved with me a lot without a blade, but this was his first time with a loaded razor. He knows enough about shaving that he taught my middle son to shave 2 years ago so he only needed a little guidance. He chose his own gear and had the good taste to pick an SV soap. I started him with a WS classic plastic razer and the Derby Extra as they are an extremely mild and forgiving combo.

Well done, Mike. Those black plastic Wilkinsons are the introductory razor that never goes extinct.

I was one of those who didn't have a father to learn from and had to figure it out myself. Somehow I managed but having a mentor would have been cool.

Yes, I had to work it out for myself too. The women offered me a black plastic Wilkinson, a Slim Twist, or my dead dad's brassed Old Type OC. I had loads of stubble by that time, so I locked onto the one that worked on that...

Cool. I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather was an electric razor guy by the time I started. So that and lots of bad techniques started me out. He felt by then that safety razors were antiques. Plus he could shave in the living room to tick off my grandmother.

He's probably laughing from Heaven at my old fashioned hobby. LOL 😆

I didn't really get to teach my oldest much about shaving as my Father decided he was gonna do it when he got the first opportunity , even though I had already bought him his first DE and had been holding on to it for a couple of years waiting on him to get old enough. I still am gonna get to show him how to use shave soap and a brush and teach him the art of DE if he ever stops using the "cheap" multiblade razors.. I am gonna get to teach my other little boy though when he gets old enough ( he's 9 gonna be 10 in Sept ) I'm gonna start him (my youngest) right and begin with the soap and brush before he gets a-hold of the canned goop .. Congrats on teaching him, I know that was a special time for you two !!

My oldest wanted to learn with carts, so I taught him, when he got a job and realised how expensive they were he switched to DE. My second eldest tried carts and found he had sensitive skin so DE was the only way for him the third I was going to teach one night after giving him his first razor, but by the time I got home my then 10yo son had already taught him and had his first shave. My Mrs taught my daughter to shave. When I saw the plasters, said mammy cut herself too so I had to go through it with her now she is as proficient with DE as carts
