The best shave of my life

Good morning everyone, I just wanted to convey a little bit of my morning ritual. This morning I had the best shave of my entire young life. I have just recently taken up wet shaving using double edge razors, so far I have tried three or four of the TTO models, one Gillette New and one Old Type.
I must say that for me the Gillette New and Old Types give me a much better shave than any of the others I've tried. Now I must concede that I have found out that shaving with a double-edged TTO is different than shaving with the other two simply because you have to change the angle at which you shave, so far I haven't quite got that down but I intend to keep working on it. I have found out that when I shave with the New or the Old Type I can actually feel the blade taking the hair off whereas with the TTO's I don't seem to feel the blade at all, I guess they were made that way so as not to give you razor burn which I have found to be a problem with the New and the Old Type but then again a small amount of shaving lotion cures that problem. So for now I will continue to experiment and let you all know how things go… Al Newman

TTOs with an OC (Aristocrat/Sheraton/Senator) will let you feel the blade as well. They provide a nice close shave too. You may like them as much as your 3 piece OCs.

I had the same issue with a vintage Gillette tto that I got as a gift last year. I couldn't feel the blade at all (although the shaves were ok), which was disconcerting. I finally said the hell with it and took it to the beach with me this year, where I used it every day for a week. once I got the hang of it, I really liked it. I think i'm going to pass this on to my son when he graduates from his Norelco electric, which will probably take a couple of years. glad things are working out for you, al. it's only going to get better!
