The 2nd Amendment

**OK gents, before I pose my question I'll post a disclaimer. This is a gentleman's forum and as such I agree with those who say politics and religion are ungentlemanly topics of discussion.**

What I'm asking (and this is for US residents only) is that you follow this link:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/quickquestion/2007/november/popup5895.htm

Once there you can vote.

The question is:

Does the Second Amendment give individuals the right to bear arms?

As far as this thread is concerned please limit your responses to yes (as in yes I voted) or no (as in no I did not vote) or feel free to not respond at all.

I don't want this thread to turn into any kind of political debate about gun owners rights, interpretations of the law or about how other nations view American gun laws. This is simply a wide spread poll that may help the government hear the American masses.

Again this thread is not about your point of view (I don't want to know what you voted) it's simply about getting the vote out.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS THREAD AS A MEANS TO DEBATE THIS TOPIC OR I WILL REQUEST THAT IT BE LOCKED!!

Thanks Gents, now follow that link and let your voice be heard!

Kind of hard to believe this question is being asked today, several months after the Supreme Court answered it. What is inspiring all of the recent talk about the Second Amendment? The new administration has not raised the subject, as far as I can tell.

Voted yes. Technically, the correct answer is no, because it doesn't give us the right, it guarantees it.

Excellent point. As a right, it's an inherent quality of our person hood, not a favor granted by the state.

So yes, it is an affirmation by the fledgling government of the United States of America of the universal right of self defense and its extension to defense of society at large.

Gentle reminder gents this isn't a debate post and little snippets of opinion just open the door to full blown flame wars.

Please limit your response to Yes or No or Voted or Didn't Vote.
