Stretched face?

What causes the stretched feeling of my face after I shave sometimes? I have only noticed since I started using Merkur blades ony my shavette. (worst product I have ever used-out of all products ever.)

How do I stop it?! It feels awful!

You must have a young face - I like the tight face feeling because it pulls out my wrinkles! ) Seriously, the only time I experience it is after using certain brands of AS. Have not used (yet) any of the things in your den but you might change one thing at a time and see if you spot something. Good luck!

Could be dryness? use the most moisturizing cream/soap and aftershave balm you can find and see if it makes a difference.

Perhaps stop using the worst product you have ever used-out of all products ever.

I just got a Weishi razor on loan. I'm going to see if that cures the sensation and affirms my suspicions. If so, I'm making off with an extra blade until I can get some more Dovo blades in, or maybe Feathers. :)

It could be the blade, but I'd say its probably due to just dryness. I'd try using any moisturizing balm and see how that works for you. :thumbup1:

That stretched, tight feeling is a result of the first layer(s) of skin being removed during your shave. Sure, a good aftershave balm, or some lotion will help, but the real issue is getting a better shave with less skin loss. So the goal would be less passes with the razor and the passes being more effective at cutting the hair at a proper angle as to only remove hair and no skin. Or in your case it could just be a blade issue, and you need to try different blades.

Those are just my thoughts. I have sensitive skin and when I have a bad shave I get that tight feeling as well and it is not a good feeling on your face.

Good luck,

J.

Well, last night I tried to moisturize extra-well.

I used a warm rag on my face, applied pre-shave oil, lathered my face, rinsed, lathered again, did a WTG pass, applied more pre-shave oil, lathered again, did a WTG, lathered again, did XTG. I am out of my AOS AS balm, so I had to settle for some Gillette AS goop that was given to me. Perhaps the Gillette did it?

You're describing a low grade case of razor burn.

Swap blade for fresh, lather well, watch blade angle and pressure.
