Like most Bengalls, it probably will not take a decent edge. Best you sell it now before you try to shave with it. PM me as soon as you list it and don't let @Tomo or @aussie know about it.

What material do you like the look of the most?

Although I have a Ralf Aust in blond bone that looks beautiful, I still prefer timber scales. There is a great variety of different timbers to choose from.

A speculative bid since the razor was closed but the Magnum Bonum was clearly visible.
Well, it's a near wedge, measuring exactly 9/8 or 28.55mm with the calipers.

That razor would be a great candidate for a full restore, personally, I wouldn't be bothered about keeping the very faint etching.

I have been thinking about it and will be eventually contacting Karl Johnson. He does some amazing restorations on these old Sheffields.

Blonde horn would match the vintage. I have a Greaves in blonde horn.

This 6/8 John Wragg and Sons 1/4 hollow in Gutta Percha is certainly one of the best condition old Sheffields I’ve picked up cheap on ebay. I also suspect the bevel is pretty much set, and it won’t require too much effort to hone.

Might put a Spanish point on it tomorrow though.

I love the way Aust razor's look. They are not over done or underdone. Nice razor. I love those scales.
