Straight Razor Acquisition Thread

I took a gamble on this “two fer” on eBay. No one bid and I got em dirt cheap, so if they were a bust...no big deal.
I really only wanted the American Line S.S. St. Louis and was hoping the spine was still good. The other is a really skinny minnie well worn Wade & Butcher.
As soon as I got them I traced the edges with marker pen and ran them over my ultra fine ceramic just to test how the spines and edges lined up. It looks like they should hone up perfectly. Even the skinny W&B.

After almost two months since it was shipped, the USPS has found my second hand Koraat ... in Florida. It may yet arrive!

Hurray!!! My new (to me) Koraat arrived today, 7 weeks after the purchase. Been so long it seems like I got it free.

Dang! This thing is heavy! May have to start a weight lifting program to use it.

I'll check the edge this evening and see if I can't get it ready for tomorrow's shave.

This came today. Has anybody ever heard of a Columbia brand razor? Bone scales, stub tail. 1820's maybe. A welcome addition to the family. I can't find ANYthing on it at all. No images even. Just nothing. Any feedback would be much appreciated..

I realize the washers look inset, but they're flush btw.

In another forum there was a post about guys showing their stub tail razors. Saw a few of those columbia razors there didn't see what info they had on them though

I have seen Columbia razors on e-bay. Logo is different and indicates that they were made in Worcester, MA. But not sure it is the same company.

Thanks to "Matt O" who gave me a heads up, I was able to score this Koraat 14 2.0. It was ordered on 11/28/2020 and just arrived in the mail today 01/16/2021. It has been anticipated for everyday since late November!

Thanks again Matt O, I owe you one!

Thats gorgeous......dont forget to do a shave report on it that way others who may be interested in ordering one with this blade profile have some info.

I'm going to need some help with this one. It just arrived from Montevideo and it is in need of work. There are some small chips on the edge. It has been cleaned with sandpaper and the etching is gone. But I am told it is a first gen Fili and I would like to restore the blade. Also, I doubt the scales are original. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone that can do this. It is definitely beyond my abilities.

So the last time I got a vintage straight with blade etching and noticeable staining/oxidation, I managed to almost completely erase the etching in the process of eliminating the oxidation. Any suggestions on how to avoid that this time around?
