Straight Razor Acquisition Thread

Really happy with this even though it needs help. Double notch rodgers are hard to come by.

That's a really nicely preserved set. I hope that it's OK for me to add a little information. In the mid 1920's the Swedish/French businessman Magnus Kindal bought the Heljestrand company after having cooperated with them for a few years. The M.K. marking on some Heljestrand products is Magnus Kindal's initials. Kindal also liked to add flair to his products hence the three crowns that is Sweden's royal coat of arms symbolising the three original Swedish kingdoms that were united to one at the end of the Viking era. Once again a very nice set, thank you for sharing.

Holy Moses!:ouch1::ouch1::ouch1::ouch1: They seem to be NOS. I'm glad that I didn't see them, I would have sold my left kidney for those.
It not only o.k.— look forward to the knowledge that you can share

A beautiful once in a lifetime set, give them a good, loving home
I thought you had sold both before now..... :001_tt2: :001_tt2: :001_tt2: :001_tt2: But It is a beautiful 7 day set that's for sure.....

Thank you gents. Yup, NOS. I was super excited when I found them but have not had the courage to touch them yet. They are being used as eye candy for now :)

Every now and then this really nice man, whose family owned the Heljestrand company, puts out a few razors from his inheritance for sale. I've got a few of my gems from him, but these days I mostly don't bid. However once in awhile I do and this time it resulted in a Heljestrand M.K. No.31 that's as NOS as can be. I'm contemplating putting this one in the safe to give to my cub as a heirloom when the day comes.

Looks Amazing!! Is it the date that decides to scales ie ivory or not??

Well today was the day when my latest score arrives, well it did arrive in style I made an offer on a razor called Robert Klaas Crane Brand. Got it very cheap the shipping cost way more than the razor, this was 2 of the pictures that was shown.

So it was sort of a blind buy but as I said it arrived this morning well to exact 15 mins ago, all I have done is open the packet and taken 3 pictures and uploaded them to my laptop and then make this post.

So here is the Robert Klaas Crane Brand

But this razor is part of a seven day set I now have Saturday, just need the other 6 to go with it and make a full set...

In a way yes. Between 1939 and mid 1945 the Swedish import was very restricted. Only goods of strategic importance was allowed to be shipped in. Swedish sailors died to transport it. Between 1945 and 1947 there were strict import restrictions, no luxury items were imported. In 1949 selling ivory was made illegal. So if you find a Swedish razor in ivory scales you can be pretty sure that it was made prior to September 1 1939, or shortly after when the stock of ivory ran out.
