Newbie here, but Williams seems great to me. I had a puck bought for me by my mother-in-law since it's what her (er... common law husband?) has always used.
I still have no idea how to build a proper lather, but I'm already getting great shaves. Smell is good, and the rinse is impeccable. Just a quick splash of water, and my face felt so clean. I'm used to gooey moisture strips on cartridges that leave my face feeling like I scrubbed with honey, and having to squeegee my face to pull off the goo. I wish my shower and hand soaps would rinse like this. Can you shower with a shaving puck?
I'd say my water is somewhere in the 10-20% hard range. Enough hardness that I have to clean appliances a couple times a year, but it doesn't affect lather.

Absolutely. Nothing wrong with showering with a shaving soap.
Right. Just don't try to shave with a shower soap. This is strictly a one-way proposition.
