Lather: Alberto VO5 Passionfruit Smoothie conditioner

Post-shave: face wash with shave binky

Took a quick shower, held the damp binky on my whiskers for a few minutes, sch lapped some hair conditioner on my whiskers, and scrubbed away with my Injector. Close, comfortable, and quick shave.

Now that we’re on the precipice of OCtober, I’m getting the hang of my Injector. Painted on a thin lather, made just under two passes of light, ATG strokes, and went from walking into the bathroom to putting away shave stuff in less than eleven minutes.

SE SOTD, Thursday, September 28th 2023

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm with a Milano 316 SSP- Mfg 2021>,tame mid range. Simple clamping system, small head parts (I lay base plate over a wash cloth when installing a blade works great). This little affordable razor has found a permanent spot in my weekly razor rotation over the years. Bottom line it just ticks all the boxes off for shaving my beard type it seems. Great stellar comfortable close shave this morning.
Blade : Schick proline p30, sharp and smoooth with reasonable longevity. Great match with the Yaqi Excalibur over time it seems.
Soap : Cyril R Salter Wild Rose cream, very nice rose fragrance 6/10 scent strength that fades quickly + excellence in lather qualities I have noticed with the CRS creams over the years. Their herbal Sandalwood is excellent also.
Brush : Yaqi "Casino clubs""26mm timber wolf synthetic. Excellent lather generator, heavenly luxury cloud like soft tips, gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. This brush was bought on sale and it is one of the best brushes in my harem of brushes, why Yaqi went with the 26mm standard Husky knot is beyond me. I think was a marketing sampler possibly of ten that where made.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Italian Barber=(Razorock) Amici splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a stellar close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Excalibur with a Schick proline blade.

Yes, the Wilkinson Pall Mall or as others refer to it here in the States, the Dunhill. Only this one was modified to accept the modern GEM blades from the original wedge blades that it was designed for. And this is one saweeeet! shaving GEM razor. What makes this one feel great during the shave is the rolling guard that also adjusts to get the blade closer or further away from the skin depending on how much blade feel one wants. Really is simple but, an ingenious design that I wish someone in these times would take a look at and produce a modern version with that adjustable roller guard to give one some flexibility in shave feel & performance. Really a fantastic little razor that cuts with some of the best that I’ve tried in the GEM razor segment. With B&M Seville to provide protection, the whiskers had no chance. The scent is excellent with a touch of spice to give a unique touch to what some consider to be a Barbershop type quality aroma. I agree.

Held the brush under the faucet and gave it a squeeze before use. Wash ran out the base of the knot during use, but the lather quality jumped up. Shave was about 15 minutes and quite close. Lighter touch helped. Can’t tell if I’m sensitive to the Aqua Velva or overshaved. Will see what the next shave brings, but fairly content.
