What's new

Single Edge SEptember 2020

9/11/20 - 19 years later. I will never forget.

Brush Semogue 1250 - I refurbished after the original clear coat finish started flaking off. I started by sanding down to the wood, using a wood sealer and then several coats of red enamel paint on top.

Soap - Palmolive shave stick - a lather bomb!

Shaver - PAA Starling O/C

Blade - Ted Pella SS Gem - Day 2

A/S - Myrsol Metisol - smells a little like rubber but it has some good stuff in it that makes for a soothing after shave!

Razor: Gem
Blade: Gem PTFE
Brush: Rick Montalvo brush with Timberwolf synth knot
Lather: chiseled face Ghost Town Barber
Aftershave: NO Barrbarr

Solid shave. Love the brush, love the aftershave. Soap stays good. It's really easy for me to get a good shave with. Feel like I never have much to add to these updates. Eventually, I will get less lazy enough to take and post a picture.

It's great to see such an active thread and all the participation in Single-Edge September. We are at page 12 on the 12th of Sept. Last year, the entire month was captured in 14 pages.

Today's shave:

Schick Type G
NOS Schick Super Stainless injector (2)
Cella
Kent Silvertex synth, face lathered
Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion

One pass, plus touch up for a DFS. When I first got the Type G, having only shaved with a Type L, I nicked myself a lot. So this razor tended to stay out of rotation. But I have seemed to figured out the required technique and am benefiting from some great shaves.

Thursday's shave;
Razor: Gem Micromatic Bullet tip
Blade: Gem Stainless
Brush: Rubberset 200-3
Soap: MWF
Aftershave: Aqua Velva
I will give this MMBT a good 8.5/10 on the quality/comfort scale, which is enough to put it into a rotation. And this Vintage Rubberset brush really whips up a massive lather, much better than any other brush I own. I only use it once in a while due to it's age and excellent condition.

Friday's shave;
Razor: Schick Type G
Blade: SChick yellow card type
Brush: Omega Pro 49
Soap: Stirling Barbershop
Aftershave: Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla
I love the texture, slickness and smell of this soap, unfortunately the more I use it the more it irritates the skin, so I will probably off load it soon. I will reserve judgement on the razor and blade combo until I use a soap that doesn't irritate me, but the shave was efficient.

Sunday, Sept. 13th. I shaved with my Ever-Ready 1914 razor today. I think it's my third shave on a Gem PTFE blade. Prep pre-shave, Palmolive shave stick, three passes. Followed by Snake Bite aftershave and Thayers witch hazel. Love this razor. Hope everyone has a nice Sunday.
