Question about shave sticks

With the availability at one time of metal shave stick containers from Williams, Colgate, and others, it stands to reason that shave sticks were made to a reasonably standard size; at least, from what I can tell from photos, the holders all seem to have roughly the same dimensions.

What are the dimensions of a "standard" shave stick? I won a vintage Williams doublecap shave stick holder on eBay and I'd like to make VdH refills for it, but I don't know what length and diameter I should use for the mold.

I think your best bet is to wait for your shave stick container to arrive and then you can make your VDH refills to the exact right size.

It is likely that these containers were roughly the same size, but I have a sneaking suspicion that each manufacturer made container to fit their sticks - standard size be damned.

You're probably right, I just hate waiting.
