Last month I was gifted a sample of Balkan Sobranie Mixture No. 759 & I decided it was the perfect way to ring in the new year. I have a soft spot for the Original Smoking Mixture, but this stuff is really something else... Deep, smooth, & complex. Hard to describe, but easily tops my pipe smoking experiences so far.
Paired nicely with the '06 ODB I was drinking...
Smoked down to a fine gray ash...

I took advantage of the almost balmy 23 degree day here to rake up some leaves that had fallen since I raked in Nov. and smoked some HOTW while I did it.

McClelland Christmas Cheer 2002 in a plateau-top straight-grain freehand from Bill and Terri Weist of Cat's Paw Pipes in Regina, SK, Canada.

Very nice.
I've got an almost identical Kaga brandy in a dark red stain. Picked it up again after a number of years of really not liking the way it smoked, and surprise - it's now a favorite.
