Picked up a Jack Daniels Honey

A real hottie was giving away free stuff at the local BevMo promoting JD Honey, so I picked up a bottle... oh my, it's yummy :001_tt1:

She suggested mixing with lemonade. I think it tastes fine just the way it is, but mixing with lemonade is also good. Any other suggestions?

I mix a shot of it with a shot of my favorite bourbon then put it on ice. Pretty good.

THanks for posting this. I've been meaning to try the honey. Does it have so much sweetness that you lose the whiskey taste?

I don't think it's too sweet... it does change the taste, but I don't think the sweetness is overpowering.

Oh Man, that stuff is evil...in the sense that I love it and will continue to sip it as long as there is some in the bottle, I fall asleep or the lovely bride tells me "enough"

Haven't had the Jack with honey, but I'm a big fan of the Wild Turkey with honey. From looking at the labels IIRC, Jack is mixed with a honey liquor while the Turkey one is mixed with actual honey.

Yeah, I picked up some Jack Daniels honey too.

Yeah I've enjoyed a couple of bottles of both, and the Jack is definitely a bit sweeter. In fact, a few mates thought the Turkey American Honey was just a regular bourbon with a slight aftertaste of honey.
I get more honey than an aftertaste, but the JD Honey definitely has the stronger honey taste and sweetness.

Ice cold and sipped, for me.

I thought the Turkey was better than the Jack, but I don't like Jack...period. I've had all of their offerings and there is a very characteristic Jack Daniels flavor that I abhor. I can taste it through mixers and all of their lines, top to bottom. I would say that it speaks well for their master blenders and their producers. I'm sure many producers would love to be able to keep a consistent, signature flavor in their lines. It's just something that I personally don't care for. The Honey definitely had that Jack flavor, so it's not lost in the sweet...entirely anyway.

I find the stuff absolutely, positively revolting. Both the Jack and the Turkey product. The honey crap literally nauseates me. I like Jack and I like Turkey but the honey stuff is awful.

Now the happy, smiling, young and curvy honeys in Ras120's pic look rather tasty. I will have some of the 3rd from the left, please. No ice.

My suggestion: Have the Hottie come over and actually mix the drinks for you. Hotties and Honey what a combo. :devil2:

I'm not a fan of anything Jack's either usually, however, the JDH isn't too bad as a sipper as long as it's COLD with an ice cube or two.

If you're looking for a very interesting whiskey that doesn't taste like one at all try out Sortilege. Made in Quebec, about $30 in our liquor stores up here. My wife hates whiskey but she'll drink Sortilege like a fish. It's an OK whiskey mixed with Maple Syrup. REAL maple syrup, none of that aunt jemima crap. :) Beautiful taste of maple in every sip. Definitely needs to be cold though. Crown Royal Maple is another one although I'm less of a fan. There seems to be a lot more crap mixed in and it doesn't have the same nice taste as Sortilege.

Cheers,

M.

Love Sortilege!! Had it in Montreal for the first time a few months ago! Been looking for the Sortilege Prestige but can't find it for sale in the states. So I settled on a case of the 375 ML that's all that's sold in the states unfortunately.
