There was a DISCUSSION a few months back about being in the GRUME when a member joined a wait list for a razor.

Even though he did not paid for it at the time it was deemed to be enough to call it a commitment to purchase and hence reason enough to be considered out of the monthly GRUME.

If that same logic is used here since you commissioned your razor in months prior to joining the GRUME and you'll be receiving the product during the GRUME month, it can be considered OK as you'll be finishing up the transaction and not initiating the purchase.

Experienced members will be able to provide a better or different point of view about this, till then just join in and enjoy the company.

Question, as I've never done one of these. I ordered a razor from Koraat in September. It likely will be ready towards the end of November, at which point I'll have to pay for it. Would that be a disqualifier?

Still thinking this over...a couple things on my shopping list but nothing I *need*.

Although you ordered it in September, that would put you out of the November GRUME as you are spending money on a shaving item in November. You could contact the person you are purchasing from and pay for it before Monday or pay for it on December 1 if payment will be ready at the end of November, then you’d be good to go for the November GRUME.

Sice I loved the idea of Tabactober I will spend the month with the same soap, haven't decided what soap yet....
Looking at ebay for a Gillette new, still resisting untill an incredible deal comes around.

I expect it will be ready before Thanksgiving, so I will respectfully sit this one out. Plus I intend to test a shavette or two to send to my nephew for Christmas, so I will try to get that done this month. After that, I think I'll be good for a GRUME or two!

I'm trying a Feather clone first. Based on the feedback he had from the straights I sent him I think this may be good for him. But I'm going to try it myself first with a couple different blade combos.

End of the day, if you cheat… you are only cheating yourself. Not like we will chop off your pinkie if we catch you buying something. (Maybe @Owen Bawn will cuz them Boston/Ohio people are a little shifty ).

This is a great thread for some fun banter and I find it makes me consider potential purchases much more seriously. More “do I need it, vs. can I afford it.” I aint rich, but hitting BUY NOW for a soap or a brush is just too easy these days. GRUME saves me a ton of $$$. If I failin one month, I will still save money the next month.

1870's George Butler "Shakespeare" No. 3 dressed in natural ivory scales with a Method edge, Palmolive cream face lathered using a Chinese guaranteed genuine pure best badger hair synthetic brush and finished off with a Bay Rum and witch hazel mix aftershave.

A good 9/10 shave, one of my best.

This week I am going to alternate between my George Butler "Shakespeare" an Revisor 6-0035 straight razors. Both have recently been my favourites and I would like to determine which I prefer most out of those two.

Blade: Wilkinson sword classic (1)
Post-shave: Cold water and Geo F Trumper Ecuris Skin Food

I had a quick workout in the gym followed by a quick shave with the equipment that I keep my locker. Then when I arrived in the kitchen I was greeted by a free bacon sandwich. Great way to start the day.
