Shave #4 in November with a SB, WR3. Fantastic shave.

Today's shave:

Soap: ARKO!
Brush: Vie Long horse hair
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock Super Stainless
Razor: No-name from France
Aftershave: Floïd the Genuine

The razor is probably the most interesting thing about this shave. I bought it recently from an eBay seller in France. It was advertised as being made of bakelite. Certainly, it's a very light weight razor with what I consider to be a large blade gap, and a lot of blade feel. In case it's not obvious from the picture, the razor is black.

There's no branding: the only writing is on the base plate which reads MADE IN FRANCE and MODELE DEPOSE. It seems curious that there's the mix of English and French. While I can read some French, "depose" is outside my vocabulary. Google translate suggested that the French should be modèle déposé which it translates as deposited model which doesn't make much sense to me.

With such a large blade gap and blade feel, I found a shallow angle (close to riding the cap) most comfortable. The light weight also made for a different shaving experience. Being careful, I managed to get a very close shave without drawing any blood. Not much sting from the aftershave. Altogether, a successful second outing with this razor.

I have one quite similar.
Depose means it is patented.
The mixture of English and French probably due to French regulation. Even though this razor was produced for both national and international sales, French were/are very strict on mentioning words as depose. I have seen it before.
This is a fine example of the hyper efficiency that was popular in France.
Gotta love the design ❤️

I'm not Jack nor do I play him on TV, but that's a Wardonia. Or at least it really looks like the one I had. Almost like shaving with a blade glued to a popsicle stick; but darn smooth if you survive it.

O.H.
Wardovia is a good lead. Most of the Wardovias I've seen online have a metal cap. My razor has a bakelite cap. I found a post on The Shave Den on December 16, 2019 with a very similar razor (the color looks reddish). The post there cites an email from Nigel Sharpe from the Wardovias Razors Web site. Nigel says the handle looks like a Wardovia, but the guard doesn't. Apparently, Wardovia had others make many of their posts, and assembled the razors. Maybe one of the manufacturers sold the same handle to another company. The other difference relative to most Wardovia traits is that mine accepts modern DE blades.

The Popsicle stick image is a good one. If I find some time, I may try my hand at 3D printing a bottom plate that reduces the exposure.

Shave Date 11/4/23
Razor:
1967 Gillette Slim TTO Adjustable Setting 4
Blade: Personna Red German made (4)
Pre-Shave: PAA The Cube 2.0
Soap: PAA Vloid
Brush: PAA Atomic Rocket 26mm
Post-shave: Alum block, Thayers Witch Hazel, PAA Mysterium Serum, PAA Vloid Aftershave
Rating: 28/30 9 for Comfort, 10 for Cuts and weepers (0), 9 for closeness, neck stubble, Face Dolphinic smooth.

Notes here.

A great shave to end the week hampered by a tad bit too much chasing BBS on the jawline. It is still a very acceptable shave. Vloid is PAA's homage to the classic Italian aftershave Floid. A different take on barbershop scents than the american take. I do like this scent quite well.

LSU Alabama today, the game will be interesting, our offense can score plenty of points, unfortunately our defense allows just as many points. Maybe the Tigers can pull out the upset again. We shall see. I'll leave everyone with a GEAUX TIGERS.

I wish everyone a blessed weekend, may all your shaves be BBS, nick, and weeper free.

Since I'm not real savvy with 3D printing, I worked with a local engineer whose company allows lots of personal projects on the equipment. We printed up several baseplates and they worked OK but ultimately the project ran its course and we went on to other things.

I wasn't in love with the razor and no longer own it, but it was an interesting intellectual exercise. Interesting shave, too, with that blade flappin' around almost completely unsupported except for that single post at the stem.
