I couldn't find a 2024 thread so I decided to start it up, just copied and pasted from last year.
OCtober is fast approaching and this thread is in celebration of the Open Comb Safety Razor.
Whether you’re using a GEM Micromatic Open Comb or any other razor that has either an open comb or a safety bar with tooth-like protrusions (such as Mühle’s R41 or Fine Accoutrements’ “open comb” razors) and you’re in the right thread.
If you want OC to stand for “Original Creations” — such as razors designed by @ERS4 , @PLANofMAN , @RenoRichard , @SlimGem , or @twhite amongst others — it is OCtober.
As always, pictures are welcome, appreciated, and craved in desperation, but not required.
The rules. Harsh, draconian, soul-crushing rules:
1. Participants are encouraged to at least think about using an OC razor at least once during the month. Life happens, so even pondering the idea counts.
2. Have no worries if you’re halfway through your All Hallows Eve shave and realize you’ve been using a non-OC razor. Finish with an OC or not. It’s fine.
3. The most important rule is to have fun. If you’re not having fun with your shave, remember the exquisitely gentle GEM Micromatic Open Comb is always a possibility.
Here’s the sign-up sheet. Please add your name if you’re down to clown with wet-shaving shenanigans involving an Open Comb or Original Creation razor
