What's new

new wetshaver. need suggestions

i'm a new wetshaver,my birthday is this week, and i want to buy myself two or three soaps. Up till now i have been using van der hagen, which is ok, but i want to try some new things. i know i'm going to buy some tabac, but i also want a glycerin (i've looked at qed, mama bear's, and col. conks) and a triple milled (preferably d.r. harris, trumper's or tobs) would anyone reccomend any of those over the others? specific scents would be helpful.:001_smile

The only one of those that I have tried is Mama Bears and that is a really nice soap. She has a lot of different scents to choose from so there is guaranteed something you'll like there!

I am no soap expert as I am very new to this myself, but I love Tabac! The only other soap I have tried is Col. Conks Almond and although it lathered nice it seemed to irritate my skin quite a bit. Just my two cents :wink2:

Welcome to B&B. I have been wet shaving four 3 months Here is what I have and recommend for soaps TABAC, MWF, Cella, and L'occitane CADE
All are easy to lather. Good luck shopping. You will end up with all of them, this is a fairly inexpensive hobby. I've been spending $30/month on creams and soaps, and I have a nice selection and enjoy my mornings more than ever.

If you seek quality above everything else with some nice scent, look no further than TGQ.

To me, a runner up is Honeybee spa soap which regarding quality is on par with QED soap.

Everything else in the glyceryn category is down the list, although if you are after scents - than mammabears has a greater choice, but lather and moisterizing will not be the same as of the other ones above mentioned.
