New Progress

I bought myself a new Merkur Progress from Lee for Christmas. I got a pretty good deal on it, and I have thoughts of turning it into a Mergress if I like it well enough.
Decided to take it for it's shakedown cruise this morning. Lathered up some Williams, loaded a fresh Derby and cranked it up to 5 to try and find where the "Ole demon" lives..
Conclusion?? I got a great shave with no troubles, except down on my neck there must have been a slight imperfection.. A tiny blemish. Well, the Progress sliced it off clean. Just a slight weep... No cause for concern! But dang that Progress is aggressive on #5..
I like to feel the blade doing it's job, but I think I'll move to #4 for the next outing!

All in all though.. At first blush, I like the Progress!

I use mine on "12" and it works great.

Getting a modified knob greatly helps with the balance. Mer, Bob, and Pureslab make them.

I bought one recently and sent it to Mer. I absolutely love my Mergress. It is now my go to shaver. I set it on 4 and get a very close shave.

I get effortless, close shaves with my Mergress set between 1.5 and 2.

I use my progress set at 2.5, I am lately loving on my slim though

On the first pass i dial mine at 3 and for the second pass and touch-ups i put it at 2.5.
