Need help with a Joseph Elliot razor please.

Okay guys my Grandmother just gave me this razor it is a Joseph Elliot. It looks to be a near wedge to me. I need someone to hone it for me please. I have a coticule but I am not that experienced with honing. The razor can't shave arm hair, so it needs a full honing. All I have done so far is touch up work on my other razors. I tried to hone it, but I couldn't even get it to shave arm hair after practically a whole day of trying.
Money is tight right now, so I am offering the shaving brush pictured with the razor as payment for your work. The brush is a restored ER 400 with a 22mm TGN best knot set at 48mm. I love the razor and want to use it, I just don't have the skills to get it to shave ready.
I would prefer a JNAT, Coti, Surgical black or Trans Ark finish, but beggars can't be choosers so anyone that can put a nice edge on a razor and wouldn't mind accepting the brush as payment please send me a PM. Thanks for your help.

Hi Dan,
sorry I can't help, shipping to Belgium would be too much. Hope you get lucky, I'm sure one of the wonderful hone boys that hang out in the hood will offer to help and I'm pretty certain that your brush will stay where it is! Good luck.

Wow I singed back in after being logged off for less than 2 hours and I have 15 PMs in total. I thank everyone that responded. I have all ready sent a reply to the first PM I received. Thanks to everyone that made such generous offers to do the work for nothing. I really do appreciate it. The generosity of the members here astonish me.

I have to say a big thank you to Nelson aka (Bayamontate), for helping me out with this razor. I got the razor today and had a fantastic shave. I did my normal 3 pass and ended up with a DFS pushing a BBS, with zero irritation.
The edge he put on this razor is nothing short of amazing. It was super sharp, and probably the smoothest edge I have used to date. It felt like I was simply wiping the stubble away with a butter knife. I had to actually feel my face after the first swipe, to make sure I was shaving the hair.
So thank you Nelson for putting a wonderful edge on the razor for me.

My pleasure Dan, thank you for entrusting me your family heirloom.

Sharp is easy, smoothness with keeness is a different matter IMO.

FYI, I went Striped Iyoto ( honing directly on stone), white iyoto, Mikawa shiro Botan, Asano tenyjou, Mejiro, Chu, Koma, Wikawa Tomo, water only on my Umaji. 30/70 linen/leather.

Enjoy your razor.

Sweet!

Just outta curiosity....Which stone did he end up using, do you know? I have a Wade & Butcher half-hollow and found it challenging to hone on my Coticule, so I can't imagine what a full wedge would be like.

EDIT: Never mind, question answered!! :001_cool:

Off with my head!

Just because using Iyoto on razors goes against conventional wisdom doesn't mean it doesnt work. Dan's happy, I'm happy.

Oooooo baby, that looks like she's a silent whisker-killer now. 15 offers in two hours? Like you're dealing with a bunch of addicts or something. Props, Bayamontate!

I don't know if it is addicts or a computer transmitted contagious disease. I think I'm coming down with something.
When money isn't so tight I want to give lapping films a try.
Eventually when my rich uncle gets out of the poor house, I want to get a Jnat. I know I won't be able to duplicate Nelsons results with the Jnat, but given time maybe. I think I have a problem.
