What's new

I “needed a new Razor.. Osprey incoming

The Ti Black Bird is light as a feather and shaves like a beast..

The Osprey’s shave, my very first one. Left me with an equally amazing shave as I get with the BB… so I’d say shave both are absolutely tops. Keep in mind I’m still learning the Osprey. It’s fun to be able to adjust it…. I’ll give it a few more shaves to make up mind on keeping it or swapping it for the Ti version. But I WILL own an Osprey.

@Blackland Razors, can you say what the Ti BlackBird weighs? I need a reference point.
I had been using the Game Changer and Lupo with a titanium handle pretty consistently for the last year so I’ve grown accustomed to lighter weight. I kinda figured the extra weight was less of an issue for an adjustable as I could dial down the setting to compensate for the weight of the razor. I’m sure the titanium shaves like a dream but I personally wasn’t sure it would be that much more of an upgrade over the stainless steel.

Beet her to it!

I was hoping that too but it’s nagging me. I’ll have to give it a few more runs. But I can’t help but want to reach for my Ti 🐦⬛, because it’s so light. I want to reach for other one.

What’s your thoughts on comparing lupo, and game changer to the Osprey?

The Osprey is an adjustable Game Changer with even better blade clamping. I think the extra weight in the head ultimately helped the Osprey feel smoother than the Game Changer to me. The Game Changer and Lupo both have thinner and more nimble heads than the Osprey.

Here are same side by side photos of the Game Changer 84 and the Osprey on level 5.

Another question for @Blackland Razors

I just purchased a machined stainless steel Osprey this past week. Should we be lubricating the knob on the base plate as part of the upkeep, and if so how often?

Side note: The Osprey is freaking sweet by the way!

Happy you're loving the Osprey! We use a long-lasting marine lubricant when assembling the razor. Adding more lubricant won't hurt, but we recently opened up one of the oldest Ospreys and most or all of the grease was still there. Granted, even the oldest Ospreys are still only a little over a year old, but I think you'll be good for a long while.
