What's new

My 1st Emir set

Here is a mint Emir traveler set -- but not the adjustable asymmetrical plate version. Remarkable condition for a 60-70 year-old razor. Must have been carefully stored away until now. And I'm glad to take possession of this deco designed beauty.

You can see how the leather case is pristine. Can't find a new leather anything these days looking as perfect.

Sure was well made back in the day. I know there are a few others owned by members here -- but the Emir razor must not have been very widely distributed since so few are in circulation. Unfortunately...

The art deco design indicates the date of manufacture as in the mid-1930s, but it's hard to imagine it survived so well back from that ancient time period. Regardless I'm happy to have had an opportunity to make it's acquaintance. Will report on its shaving effectiveness later this month.

Jake do the your neighbours complain when you fire up the time machine and their lights dim?.......

Beautiful Jake, simply beautiful.

Well I have now used this razor enouogh times to be fairly confident that not only is this a great looking razor -- it's an excellent shaver as well. One thing that I missed until I began shaving with it regularly, is the asymetrical head. You'll see in the photos that it has both an open comb design as well as a closed guard. It provides one of the most comfortable close shaves I have ever experienced. Realy too bad this razor is not more widely available. I saw a few for sale on EBay recently, but they didn't appear to have this unique design.

You can see what I mean when inspecting the plate under the top of the head.

And unassebled, it is even more obvious.

Very clever design and what a great shaver. Heartily recommended. Even if you don't flip it over for various parts of the face and neck, you'll be amazed at the smooth, comfortable & close shave this razor provides.

detail to the handle is incredible, the overall shape of the razor and kit is impeccable. Congrats on a real beauty. First I've seen one, thanks for the share!

I've seen a few Emirs in SoTD pics and they're just beautiful. Great find, especially with the whole travel case. Definitely on my radar. The head looks a bit like it was copied for the ShaveCraft two-sided head. Love the handle - just classy. Thanks for sharing!
