So searching through the forums for favorite shave soaps, the top list for performance seems to be
Arko
Tabac
Cella
MWF
And the Three T's
Looking through all of the ingredient lists on those, it seems that they all have a lot of things in common.
They all use both Potassium and Sodium Hydroxide
They all added stearic acid
All use either tallow or palm kernal oil (veggie tallow)
Almost all use seem to use coconut oil
tetrasodium EDTA or etidronate (or both)
none use Olive, castor, soy, corn, or other liquid oils
They all have glycerin, but not sure if it is added or naturally made by the soapmaking process.
Most of them have something not saponified (mineral oil in Arko, Lanolin in MWF, etc)
Probably not going to happen too soon, but I'm looking for ideas/recipes for this kind of soap.
