Let's see your bird pictures!

this new year's eve morning...

got a shot this friday morning, of one of the red shouldered hawks.
can barely make out its leg band.
it and mate were trying, without any success, to re-po their nest that the owls took over!

even got a short clip of its call.
audio not great, but it was windy, over 100 feet away, with background noise from nearby airboats...

this sunday morning, just before sunrise, lucky to catch a shot of the gho bringing in breakfast to the mate in the nest.
looks like a gallinule, but hard to tell from poor angle, distance, low light and high iso's (25600 and 64000).
after the drop-off, apparently he scooted off somewhere else to sleep the day away.

gho reappeared before sunrise today, flying back to the nest tree.
so dark, had to manually focus.
got this one shot with a flash; iso 32000!
cropped to about 10% of the frame, no de-noising.
he did not seem to be bringing any catch, however!

owls were not to be seen this tuesday morning.
so here are some cattle egrets headed out from their roosts just after sunrise.
four shot burst taken at 10 fps.
crazy how they (mostly) synchronize their wings in flight!

Cool shots! Interesting how they tuck their necks like herons, while so many other long necked birds stretch them forward during flight.

again checked on the owl nest this wednesday morning.
male nowhere around, but apparently he made an earlier delivery.
female was bobbing, apparently trying to pull apart whatever was delivered for breakfast!
