this monday morning at the swamp.
the cattle egret headed out at sunrise, skimming over the pond.
and the local pair of sandhill cranes.

and the owls were out hunting again before sunrise.

the screech gave the unattended camera nearly 3/4 open eye this morning when some noisy blackbirds landed nearby...

Almost 270 degrees on what we would consider a "shoulder head turn." They can also turn their face almost upside down when looking straight at you.

Their eyes are so large they're fixed in their sockets. They need that flexibility to bring their eyes into focus.
