La Toja. Holy Cow!

Tried the tubed cream today for the first time. Love the scent...a shower soap with this smell would be unreal!
However, I had one of the roughest shaves ever with this stuff. I have to be extra careful in the future. The smell and lather were great but man I got burned today.

Me too Maximum.... I was never a fan of LaToja cream after using 2 or 3 times and having bad experiences. There are so many much superior creams out there compared to LaToja. Waste of money for me. Craig

So I guess it's just the La Toja stick everyone is wild about?
I will try it again with a fresh blade and then decide. My Astra SO was only 2 to 3 shaves in. Baffled.

Marco is the only reason I haven't thrown away my La Toja stick, but La Toja no me escoja!

Just used the stick this morning for the second time. It's really a nice lather. Thanks for the warning about the cream!

I can't find fault with the cream. It has the great La Toja scent and I haven't had an issue with performance. I give the edge to the stick, but I won't be tossing the cream out.

Once you get the water/cream ratio down it's a great performer, some folks have the same problem with MWF soap, hardly anyone tells them to give up or move on. I always suggest building a lather til you think it's ready to use, keep adding small amounts of water, going from useable to a runny mess, you'll learn about "sweet spots" for any cream or soap that way.

If your lather was too runny or wet, use a bit more product to start, if you don't alter one of your variables your results will always be lousey. I can get a 150ml tube of La Toja for ~$7.00 and that's pretty inexpensive compared to others, so if I need an extra 2-4mm of cream I don't mind when I get great results. I prefer the La Toja Sensitive cream to the La Toja Regular cream or soap, ymmv... ditto for Arko, that soap dries me out.

I have no problems with the cream, in fact I used it this morning and had a great shave. The soap and the cream are pretty much equal performers for me.
