What's new

is D.R. Harris hard or is my sample bad

i recently obtained a sample of D.R. Harris Almond and it is much harder then the TOBS samples or the Proraso or KMF i have... it's not rock hard, but when i scooped some with my finger to put on my brush for a face lather, it was chunky and i couldn't get the chunks to break up by just lathering, i pulled the brush away, reached in there and pulled out the chunks, and broke them up manually.

obviously, I'm not going to want to keep doing this, but i suspect that, based on what other ppl say about D.R. Harris, i just obtained a dried out sample of what is normally a quality cream... can someone confirm this, possibly post a pic of a tub of D.R. Harris Almond... :)

It's a hard-ish cream (not as hard as Castle Forbes IIRC- I still use CF, but not Harris cream). You can load it like a soap (swirl on the top of the cream instead of playing with "snurdles" :001_rolle of cream)

Enjoy :001_smile

oooh... well.... i kinda took my sample and added a few drops of water and mixed it till it had a nice TOBS consistency... hope it works lol

i guess i kinda like pulling out a chunk of cream with my finger and burying it in the middle of my badger and smashing it all against my face...:001_rolle

I have a new tub of the Marlborough cream.. and the consistency is exactly as you describe.

I tried to soften it by adding a bit of water, but in the end I have just taken to swirling the brush directly in the tub.

It works like a charm, producing a very thick, cushiony lather.

Okkidokki, not necessarily bad, i just wanted to ensure that my sample was an accurate representation of the product before i set about judging it suitability...

Harris cream is not that hard. I used many pots.

It is slightly thicker than other creams, but not hard. Your sample is old or dry.

I have a tub of Arlington and it's a hard cream/soft soap, like the Proraso "soap". It's more suitable for loading the brush like a soap than cream.
