What's new

information please (gillette bulldog)

I am interested in making my own copy of a Gillette bulldog handle. I have the lathe, and the knurling equipment to do it, but what I do not have are the dimensions. What I would like to get are the:

1) diameter of the handle portion
2) diameter of the knob end
3) length of the handle

Dimensions do not need to be 100% accurate to the micron, just a simple ruler will suffice.

In the absence of an actual bulldog, Weber and iKon dimensions will work as well.

When done, Ill be more than happy to post some pics of the results.

Thanks in Advance.

As I understand it, the BRW Bull Mastiff was modeled on the Bulldog. My example is 80-mm long, including the knob. The knurled portion of the handle has a 12-mm OD. The BRW design featured interchangeable knobs, threading onto the bottom of the handle. The classic knob is 16-mm long and has a 15-mm OD.

In the photo below, the Bull Mastiff handle has a flared knob and the Deluxe version has the classic knob. If you want to make a handle that will fit a variety of heads, note how the handle collar tapers to fit the NEW head. My examples are also countersunk to fit the Probak head.
