What's new

Holy Cow - er, um Sheep

Got a puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat (and the ceramic bowl) from Bullgoose yesterday and my first shave with it today. Need to use it some more to commit to my judgement but this may be my favorite soap. The scent is nice but subdued so I'll keep stronger scented soaps in my rotation 'cause I'm all about the smell :) But if everyday is like this morning - if I could only have one soap this would be it. Tons of thick, rich, slick lather and a scent that should complement anything that comes after.

Got a refill puck from Phil today in the mail! Fantastic stuff... didn't want to get anywhere near low before buying a new one so now I have one new puck and one about 90+%.

It's great stuff!

Don't worry, your opinion won't change. Much. If anything, you'll become slightly more obsessed with MWF. It happened to me.

Though you might want to put a stick of Irisch Moos into your rotation, too. It's the only other soap I love as much as MWF. I've been traveling for the past nine days and only took the Irisch Moos along. I had been using it occasionally, but have really come to love it these past few days. I'll probably be switching off between it and MWF.

I am down to two soaps and use them as the mood strikes me: MWF and Cella. I would not want to be without either of them.

Advice: Don't get careless with that MWF lid. I did. Dropped it and it shattered! Luckily I was able to find a replacement!

The Cella is nice for travel. The little plastic tub screws shut quite securely.

I love the stuff too! I actually paid the extra and bought the bowl it comes in. It looks really nice and SWMBO doesn't even mind it being left on the vanity as a sort of decoration.

Everyone should at least try the fat and stick with it until they achieved a couple good lathers from it.

Does everyone completely submerge the puck in water for a bit before loading their brush or do you just put a teaspoon of water on top?

A while back, I started a thread about items I can't believe I haven't tried.

I'll have to add MWF to that list. I have no idea why I never got around to it.

Get some NOW.... it really is that good, i think if it was female i would marry it, seriously though, mwf is my favorite and although i have several soaps in rotation i find myself using this more than the rest put together.

I do both, but be careful not to use water that is too hot as it apparently can break the soap down in some way.

A little water on top - about a teaspoon - is enough for me. However, the ambient humidity is fairly high: my MWF hasn't shown any signs of cracking. If yours does, then it may need a little more water.

Was it an original replacement or did you get lucky and find a regular glass lid to fit, if so what. Curious minds want to know.

It is an original MWF cover. I mentioned my heartbreak to Lee from Lee's Razors and he said he just happened to have an extra lid so it's not like I have some secret supplier that can come up with these on demand.

Haven't tried the Irisch Moos yet but it's on the list. My soap rotation has been AOS Sandalwood, Cade, Tabac, and Speick - so I think I've been using some pretty good soaps. The MWF is at least the equal to all of them in terms of efficacy. I like the stronger scents of some of these other soaps better but which scent I want to use changes with my whims of aftershave, cologne, etc. The MWF scent is much more subtle and I think I could use it with anything to follow. I'm not going to kid myself and say I'll move down to one soap, but if I had to I think it would be da fat.

Really MWF should be in everyone's bath. I avoided it for far too long after reading tales of lather woe...but that was a huge mistake. MWF rose right to the top of my favorite soap lists after a single shave. It is an superior soap.

It is outstanding. I use it basically full time after trying many soaps and creams. I also just bought some MWF bath soaps which are excellent as wel..

I get good shaves from MFW, but I build better quality lather with Tabac, Irish Moos, Cade, Speick, an La Toja Stick.

I'm sticking with it, but I won't buy extra pucks until I'm convinced that I'm going to like it long term.
