Herring shoes are amazing

Hi guys, I recently went on a search for nice new dress shoes. Some suggestions led me to Allen Edmonds, and I eventually settled on a Park Ave. However, a good friend of mine suggested to me a little known company in England called Herring Shoes. They make amazing shoes and the prices are amazing also.

I just got a pair of the Richmonds (in their Classic collection). They are unbelievably good looking shoes with a pretty darn good fit. These are great, great shoes. Consider them next time you are looking for a good dress shoe.

I need to make sure that RichGem gets to see this thread, I'm sure he'd be interested in these Herring Shoes.

Wow. Are you in the UK? I wonder if I could get them in the USA?

These are excellent:

I see they also carry Church shoes. Those are extremely nice. I wish I owned a pair.

Oh man, these are even cooler:

OP-
Did you get these shipped to North America? Did you pay duty/customs fees?

By "Church", are we talking Churches of England? Just checking

OP, this looks like another great source for good shoes, thanks for sharing.

Shipping:
I live in Los Angeles. They were shipped by UPS and SUPER FAST. I was shocked. I ordered them Monday night and they arrived today (Thursday). They cost about 140 pounds, which was approximately $225. That includes shipping. Actually, if you ship to the USA, they deduct almost 20 pounds off the listed price because of the EU tax which we don't have to pay, but then shipping itself is about 20 pounds, so the cost including shipping is almost exactly whatever is listed.

It's a great deal. All the good Allen Edmonds shoes are $325, and these are just as good if not better actually. They are handcrafted in England. Inside the box are:
--shoe polish matching the leather
--each shoe is in it's own velvet bag
--there's a larger velvet towel surrounding both shoes

Just top-notch quality. The fit was amazing. I know that's specific to each person, but it was impressive to me. The AE shoes fit me well once I figure out what my actual width is. These were even better and i just got their default "F" width. They had a sizing chart conversion which turned out to be very accurate. However, I was lucky that my friend (who recommended the shoes) is my same size and i was able to try his on.
And the best part is the price. I seriously don't think you can find a better shoe for the price. Anything more will have diminishing returns, or you can go bespoke.

Oh no... Just ordered two pair.

The Chaucer (love a whole leather shoe)

And the Edmonton (sweet looking shoes)

Kinda glad I didn't find anything at Nordstrom last week and therefore hadn't spent the shoe budget. :) Good find Supershaver.

The English shoes are pretty awesome.

I've ordered Loake from Pediwear in the UK several times (they also stock Crockett and Jones, Church etc) and they are very competitve on price.

Not affiliated in any way, just in the interest of comparison:001_smile

PS Love those Crockett and Jones but too pricey for me and now of course I have to consider the Herring brand too. This is not helping my ADs.

I've been to one of Herring's retail shops in Ross on Wye, Herefordshire, which is quite close to me. Last time I came away with a pair of their "seconds" for about £60 and I've still to find out what the fault is with them!

I also have a couple of pairs of Trickers which someone mentioned above and they are marvellous shoes. They are probably best known here in the UK for their heavy Country Brogues (wingtips) and the two pairs I have are bombproof! Double thick sole etc. Worn by the royal family!

If anyone over there can find a copy of the British comedy film Kinky Boots, that was actually filmed at the Trickers factory in Northampton.

Those are amazing looking shoes.

Here in the U.S., I rock the Johnston & Murphy's, as well as Florsheims. Those Herrings remind me of both. Very attractive.

Do you wear a D width in AE shoes?

You know what? You guys come up with some very classy items. Thanks for the heads up, very nice shoes.

Take Care,
Richard

Apparently it's not available anymore, can't find it on their website.
You have to enter your shoe size first. But yes I tried a few other shoe sizes and they did not have it in stock. It is a clearance model, so yes it is likely discontinued.
