GSE - The Next Big Thing

Had a bottle of GSE I have been using over the past year to keep distilled water fresh. GSE has the characteristic of being a natural and powerful antibacterial, microbial, miracle skin cure, etc. and it occurred to me to try adding a dozen drops to an old tub of shave cream that I had never gotten particularly stellar performance out of as a preservative. One of those back shelf tubs you hate the throw away but just don't give good results. Turns out the resulting shave just blew me away! Thicker, richer, more luxurious lather then I have ever seen before even out of my top shelf creams that usually take it's place. A pea size of cream just exploding into mounds of velvety smooth and rich lather and with loads of cushion and glide. Micro bubbles completely invisible to the naked eye with an impressive sheen. The resulting shave was flawless. Needless to say I will be adding it to all of my tubs of cream from now on, both as a preservative and a lather enhancer in one. With results such as this I definitely see this as a game changer in the world of wet shaving.

Would be great to hear others experience with this addition. It doesn't take much, say 15 drops per full tub of cream mixed in.

Yes, that is it. Grapefruit Seed Extract. It is often cited for it's strength as an anti-bacterial/microbial/viral/etc. I had been using it mostly to keep things clean or as a natural preservative but it just knocked my socks off after trying it in my shave cream. It is safe to consume (considered a preventative for flu/cold/etc) and offers healing properties for cuts, skin infections, etc. so it is very good for your skin as well. Give it a try and let me know how you get along.:thumbup1:

makes sense... i am quite sure we will see more of this shaving into the future. mark my words :001_cool:

sounds plausible however the lather was much better then adding glycerine alone, as i have done that as well. i have added it to some other creams since and have experienced equal improvements across the board. seeing that it is a preservative and good for your skin it would be a good addition even if it didn't improve the lather, but it certainly does this as well.

I reviewed an after shave splash from Maine Shave a few years ago with the GSE in it. It was a very, very good product. If it was because of the GSE or not- I cannot say.

GrooveyD,

I've tried it and love it. Adding a couple drops of NutriBiotic GSE to a lather improves lather richness and slickness -- in the same way adding a similar amount of plain liquid vegetable glycerin does. Since I don't have GSE without glycerine, I can't test it alone, although from my brief research, GSE is hard to find NOT in glycerin base. GSE does have impressive internal and external health benefits, and I wouldn't mind including some of those in my shaving. But, I suspect you can get the same shaving performance improvement from using vegetable glycerin for a fraction of the price: $4/16 oz of Now Vegetable Glycerin vs. $14/1 oz NutriBiotic GSE
