Great shaves from a 30s Schick

Hi Guys,

First of all, I must say that I love my Coles Slant, Fatboy and New. But l just cannot fault my 30s Schick at the moment.

Great close shaves, enjoyable and well...different.

I didn't even consider trying the Schick until I found this one in a lot of Gillettes I bought. I then found a good stock of new Schick blades, so I thought I'd give it a go.

First shave was awful, next one was better then great!

I've now acquired a Schick B1 (and even managed to get the auto loader working!) and a really Art Deco Type F. I've yet to try the B1 though.

Anyone else getting great results with an early Schick?

I have a C1 Schick Automatic and it is, quite simply, the most finely crafted razor ever. It shaves as well as any of the other Injector razors I have used. Sadly, I have to hand load the blade, as I don't have any of the blade magazines.

Although DE is my system of choice, an occasional shave with one of my injectors is always a welcome treat. My type E and G injectors are my favorites. I really like the simplicity of design and the shaves are top notch. I get my best results with vintage American made Schick blades. I only wish I had a large supply.

The injectors I have are great shavers. They get in places with ease where a TTO Gillette just doesn't want to fit.

I have a spot on my neck where I have to go W to E ATG to get a total BBS shave. With my beloved 40's SS or Red Tip, I have to stretch skin, crane my head around, make a few passes and hold my tounge just right.

With the 1942 Injector, I just shave, and it's perfect.

I get shaves with that ugly thing that I only get from my TTO and Tech razors when the stars align and I'm in the zone. With the Injector, they come with very little effort, and the shaves are faster, too.

I have no logical reason why this should not be THE RAZOR for me, and I should just BST all the others and use the dough to buy injector blades.

I just don't enjoy shaving with it as much as I do with the Gillettes.

I broke out the 1942 injector tonight.

Great shave, very comfortable. Once again, fast and easy.

I'm using some blades I got at a drugstore. I know that they can't be that great, but the shave is hard to argue with.

The Clubman Bay Rum went on with hardly any sizzle at all. It's a DFS that could teeter over to BBS with some minor touch up, but the shave was so tranquil it wasn't worth the risk. Seriously, it feels like the Swedish Bikini Team hanglided in and giggled the whiskers right off my face.

Sigh. I should use this thing more often, but those Gillettes are such enticing hunks of heavy metal....

I love my Gem's,but the old Injectors are like Gem's with power steering.:biggrin:I'm using mine a lot lately.:wink:Having 120 nos Schick Stainless blades in supply, should keep me going for a while.

E type Injector user here. Love that razor, does a great job. Two passes and DFS everytime. Between that and my Slant, the Gillettes have been decorations for the shave den!

Hi Dave,

I haven't used an automatic but have a tried a few injectors including the Type F which is fantastic to hold and look at! My go to injector is a beat-up Schick Dial on a setting of 4. Two passes and I'm ready for smooches from the Girlfriend

With my B1 I just took the blades out of a modern loader and inserted them into the empty magazine from the B and it worked a treat.

I have a C1 Schick Automatic and it is, quite simply, the most finely crafted razor ever. It shaves as well as any of the other Injector razors I have used. Sadly, I have to hand load the blade, as I don't have any of the blade magazines.

Hi Scott,

The B1 I found was in really good order and the auto-loader, for a 1920s razor seems just way ahead of it's time. If a modern razor manufacturer offered similar, I think it would do well.

Best Wishes

Dave

I have a few Gems (Micromatics mainly, some in great condition and a late G Bar) I haven't tried them - should I give them a go? Someone kindly sent me some blades, but I've yet to use a Gem.
