What's new

My renewed love for Injectors - derailed by the Oneblade!!??

This was the spring/summer of the Injectors for me.
Pulled out all the old ones, bought a bunch of new ones, and even found 2 NOS Type O's straight from Japan for a great deal including one from a member here that had only used his once.
THEN I happened to see that Oneblade was coming out with a new blade.
The only reason I stopped using the Genesis was because the Feather razor just straight up was horrible, and that's weird already because I like Feather double edge blades.
I was in the middle of seeing how many shaves I could get from my Schick Japan Twin Injector blades and was almost to 20 when the Oneblade package showed up.
This is what they should have started out with!
I tried the Subie Shaves Hack with the PTFE Gem blades, but it was more trouble than I cared to deal with even though they lasted longer.
So there the most expensive razor I have ever bought sat for over two years collecting dust.
Now I'm wondering when or if I'll ever get back to the injectors.
The shave with the Oneblade is just so fast and effortless and easy now.
Time will tell though lol.
I wrote a post here a couple of years ago or so called "All roads lead back to the Fatboy."
One thing for sure is I don't see myself ever going back to ANY double edge razor.
The results I get from single edge razors with my facial hair and skin are definitely superior.
Have a great evening!

How can someone resist the siren call of the OneBlade... the name itself is 💰 then the art form of the razor follows, the Genesis is mastery in form and sublime in motion, the science of the pivoting head and the cool blade holder is awesome. There the music tempo slows down, the Feather blade was mostly good (when used daily and a new one was used, it failed on 3 day growths for me and after the 2nd shave on a blade it was used to scrape soap out of the tubs for me). I still used it intermittently as it was still a good shaver and stocked the FHS blades.

Now there is light at the end of the tunnel which is not a speeding train. Based on @helicopter blade test work elsewhere on the forum I immediately blind ordered a 3 yr supply of the new ones. If they are even half good as the tests indicate it will be sublime.

Now the box from OneBlade awaits impatiently my return from travels.

I'm hoping you enjoy them!
If not, I can relieve of that three year supply 😃

That is good news! That razor has always been held back by the blade.
Agreed!
Still blows my mind that a Feather performed so badly.
The new blade, SO FAR, seems like the equivalent to the Chicks for Injectors for performance.
Still haven't found out how long they last, just two shaves in doing this every other day.

Forgot that I had also bought the "lesser" versions of the Oneblade a few years ago, the Hybrid and the Core.
The Hybrid was supposed to have the same head as the Genesis, but be more affordable because it wasn't made of stainless steel.
The Core was plastic and known for being the mildest of the bunch, and with the horrible Feather blade I MIGHT have used it two times before it ended up in a box.
Gave the Core another go these past few days with the new blade and I'm loving it.
Perfect daily shaver if I wanted to use it that way, PLUS I don't have to worry as much about messing it up by dropping it or something like the expensive and heavy Genesis.
I love the Genesis, but I wouldn't want to use a Rolls Royce to always run my daily chores in LOL 😂

I do love the new HC Blades, that said, I still prefer my Supply Injector with their blades or a Chic more. Less blade feel and longer lasting blades. Yesterday I did what was shave 4 on the HC and I think for me it's time to retire them after 3 excellent shaves. Which is two more shaves than I was willing to use the FHS-10 for, but now since using HC, it's three more than I would use the FHS-10 for.

The Injector blades will go 20 for me. I'm going to be 56 and in the last three years my whiskers have gone nearly to wire. 3+ years ago I was fine with the FHS-10. They were only good for 1-2 shaves, but they worked well. Now they barely work for 1 and the HC's are about 10 times more comfortable doing the same job.

I'm kind of a nut, I think I might take an FHS-10 and see if I can put a better edge on it for shaving. Because the 10-20 I have left are going back to mother otherwise.
