I went a little overboard since buying my first DE razor a month ago and I now have 3 birth quarter slims (amongst other razors including the Fatboy). This one... while in excellent cosmetic condition. doesn't have that slightly higher resistance on the last 1/4~1/2 turn. What gives the razor that 1/4~1/2 turn lock and can it be repaired?

99% of the time that's due to accumulated crud inside the workings. The usual long soaks in hot soapy water should cure it.
Could take it apart. The screw is a left handed screw, so just go clockwise. Brush the threads and clean the inside and put back together. a drop of mineral oil and should be good to go

The slim is a crimp, correct? What gives it that additional resistance? The spring?
