Going to C&E; need a Shopping List

tomorrow i'll be going to visit relatives in NC, and we'll be within spitting distance of Crabtree Valley Mall. I'm assuming there's a Crabtree and Evelyn there, since the universe would seem less stable otherwise.

SO, i need a shopping list.
the only thing i've got down right now is a fist full of tube keys.
What would you gents recommend?

I've got a bowl of Nomad from the mother-in-law. It's a scent you have to get acquired to, but the lather is stellar. I've heard good things about their other shave soaps as well.

I'll second the Nomad (the entire line, really), and if you're a cream man they include a tube key in the box.

could ya tell me what the various flavors smell like, or is "nomad" it's own man?

Nomad is very oriental to me, green grass and bamboo. It's enjoyable but a little synthetic to my nose. Sienna is quite powdery and fresh. Sandalwood was good, sweet and woodsy.

+1. I was going to say the same thing, but there's a little more to it. I'd say "wet grass that was just cut last night." Something like that anyway.

Just test everything that you can. Surely you will find at least one product range that appeals.

righty.
went earlier today. didn't really like the smell of the soaps(sienna, sandlwood, and nomad). do these smell different in use than dry?
got two tube keys. planned to get more, but they were more expensive than i thought(four dollars each. yikes!). spent a few minutes drooling over the Edwin Jagger brushes, wishing i had more money(this was the first time i'd seen high end brushes in a store

).
checked out the Body Shop's synthetic brush. decided i'd pass.

i was on a bit of a time limit this time, but i'll give the mall a good going over tomorrow.

If you got a pair of tube keys, you've scored just about everything that C&E offers that is worth having.

I agree with you about the smells of the Sandalwood, Sienna and Nomad ... they work great to shave with, but I can't put up with those scents. I've got far too many other soaps and creams at home to waste my time and money on something I don't like.

They used to have a bigger selection of men's shaving stuff, but they've been discontinuing a lot of products in the two years I've been wet-shaving.

When I first started two years ago, I did manage to score a Best Badger Brush, and some Sweet Almond Oil shaving cream, but those two delights are long gone.

If you're still interested in getting one of their EJ brushes, wait for a 20% off sale. That will make a $35 brush just $28. They have those sales on a regular basis, about every six to eight weeks.

If you need a brush RIGHT NOW, and can't wait for the C&E sale, pick up one of those Body Shop synthetics. At $11, they're well worth it. It will get you started off nicely, and when the sale comes along, you'll have a better idea of which brush will do the best job for you.
In the meantime, check out those other shops like B&BW and The Body Shop ... they have some good produ0cts, and their prices are better than C&E, too.

i have one of the Target badger brushes that's my current go-to brush. if there's a sale while i'm here i'll definitely consider getting a Best, but i'm already over my AD budget this trip by lurking antique shops on the way, and then there was Smokey Mountain Knife Works(henceforth SMKW), and i scored a Star razor, Gillette SS case and blades, and a fountain pen at a flea market yesterday.
