First Shave with a Type G Injector

I recently bought a type G Schick Injector off the BST and used it for my shave tonight (Boreal boar, Pre de Provence soap, Pella blade, Mama Bear's B&B ASB). Prior to this, I used only Type L Injectors. For one, the razor handle is a lot smaller than the Type L - it is more like shaving with an Gillette 40's SS or a Tech than the later, longer handled Ls. I used the Pella blade loader and it was darn tough to get that blade in there - the spring is very tight. In fact, after loading, I had to nudge the blade into place as it was hanging over the side. I also noticed that a lot more of the blade was showing - the cap that covers the blade on the Type G is much shorter than the later Type L.

So the boar does a fantastic job on the French soap and the lather was awesome, thick and slick. For the shave, I really liked how the razor handled and there was a noticeable difference from the Type Ls. I think the G is a touch more aggressive and better handling. The shave was fantastic - probably the best shave with an Injector I have gotten yet. These old Schicks with the Bakelite handles just rock. They are cool to look at and the build quality is excellent.

For the previous month or so, I used my Type L Injectors every shave to see if repeated use would give me any issues as cartridge shaving would. I did not have any issues and the shaves were great - fast, effortless and easy. The weird thing though was that I couldn't get over the feeling of 1970s shaves with those Type L Schicks. It felt like Aqua Velva was a requirement after shaving. (Not that there is anything wrong with that - I used a lot of AV!). But the Type G has a permanent spot in my rotation now and I would highly recommend them.

Nice, the injectors are great, I have G & E's, they seem the same. Smooth, sharp, and manuverable (sp?)
