Face Wash Suggestions

So I've been using Zirh Clean Face Wash for quite a while but am considering a change due to availability. I used to be able to buy it at multiple places both locally and online, but recently I've had to resort to online only, and even then cost and availability have been hit or miss. I originally settled on Zirh because it seems to agree with my body chemistry very well. It cleans great and keeps the oil down very well. When I try to switch to other scrubs or washes, none seem to do an effective job of keeping the oil in check. I believe the active ingredient in Zirh that keeps my oil in check is Alpha Hydroxy.

Any suggestions out there in regards to other washes/scrubs I might want to try. I've tried just about everything I can get my hands on locally to no avail (the usual drugstore stuff -- Boots, Everyman Jack, Nivea, Nuetrogena, etc; and a few pricier regimens).

Cheers,
JW

I just started using Trader Joes All-in-One Nourish Face Wash...which comes highly rated from a couple of online sites (think consumer reports for cosmetics). It works great, it's fragrance free and it's $5.99 for a good size bottle. I am learning you do not have to spend a ton to get really good face wash, lotion and scrub.

Thanks! There is a Trader Joe's opening across the street from my office (first one in our area) in about a month. I'll check out their wash.

Body wash tea tree?

I've got Shiite skin, but I've been using it for a few years now and does make it better for me..

I like the paul mitchell shave bar soap with tea tree, i even use the shampoo, walmart has it sometimes, if not most chain hair cutting places, and follow with a post shave lotion like every man jack

If not tea tree, then I go for musgo pre shave bar, post shave lotion

I like the Nivea pre-shave face scrub. It definitely has some active ingredients in it because it tickles a little. It has small beads to clean the face. They recommend that you only use it every 2-3 days though.

I have started using Shea Moisture black African soap which was recommended to me from another member here. Its $5 a bar but its a large bar (8oz) and seems to last a long time. I have been using it for a couple weeks now and I bet it will easily last about 2 months with the rate it is wearing. It creates a really good lather and smells pretty good to me.

I just suggest you get a soap dish for it as it will leave dark soap scum if it sits on your shower.

I have started using it entirely and it is clearing up my acne pretty good to boot.

I have used Zirh Clean and can honestly say that if it worked for you your next face wash should be Menscience. Similar ingredients, but no abrasive smell like the Zirh. I'd go so far as to say this is a no brainer. I see them as VERY similar products. Both a bit too harsh for my skin, but nearly identical nonetheless.

Thanks for the reply's all! I will investigate each. CMAN, I'm especially interested in the Menscience product.

The actual Body Shop branded one, and I use the face wash rather than the foam because I get more washes from them.

There is an Aussie brand called Thursday Plantation which is also good if you ever come across it.

Other brands of tea tree stuff don't work for me at all.

Other brands that work for me: nivea face wash (the oil control one which can be hard to find) and a the men's stuff from Biotherm, I think it was called 't zone".

Do you use the one from the Body Shop or some other brand?

I really enjoy using Kiehl's Facial Fuel face wash/cleanser. A little expensive ($20) but a little goes a long way, it's lightly mentholated, smells nice, and leaves my face feeling pretty clean. Thye have a face scrub as well, but I just stick to the regular face wash.

Thanks for the additional suggestions everyone! Lots of investigating still left to do.

Cheers,

The Lab Series Max LS Daily Renewing Cleanser is my favorite facial wash at the moment. It removes all dirt, impurities and oil from the skin without leaving the skin a tight and drying feeling. It's also one of the few facial wash products that did not clog my pores or break me out. And since I have a beard, I also use a beard wash product to clean and soften my manly whiskers. I've been using the Mister Beard Wash Daily Beard Cleanser for over a month now and I am very happy with the way it thoroughly cleanses the beard area. It's made from natural ingredients so it's very gentle on the gentle and softens the beard at the same time. That pretty much covers my facial cleansing routine. I've been longign to try Zirh as well. any more thoughts about this product?

Try Peter Thomas Roth. I use the age defying f/w and love it. My wife started using it and says its the best f/w she's ever used.
I alternate this with Zirh which I also like.
Keihls facial fuel is another great f/w.
I am almost finished with a bottle of Baxter of California and probably won't buy again. My face feels clean after using the Baxters, bit I like a foaming facial cleanser and this is a cream, non foaming.

I've used Baxter's Daily Face Wash. It works well and I like it. Then I tried QED's Black Magic bar soap. It works just as well and I prefer using bar soap, so I've stayed with it. If Charles ever ran out of Black Magic, I'd have no problems using Baxter's Face Wash again.
I also use Baxter's Facial Scrub at least once a week.
You can get all these products at www.qedusa.com
