Decided to Live Dangerously Today

Nine times out of ten my shave is four passes - WTG, XTG ear to nose, XTG nose to ear, and ATG. This moring I decided to live dangerously by dropping the second XTG and doing two ATG passes, wild and reckless youth that I am (OK I'm lying about the youth part). It was a delightful shave without irritation and the AS was as gentle as a maiden's caress. It's holding up nicely as the dreaded hour of 5 o'clock creeps nearer. It feels like a just completed DFS this late in the day. Any other wild and reckless guys out there that, young or old, double up on the ATG?

I think two ATGs would cause an uncomfortable result for me. I often do the four pass that you do and get great results. my newest razor (Progress 510 + Derby or Astra SP) gives me a great three pass shave (WTG + XTGx2) without the need for ATG.

wild and crazy, reckless?... sorry, I've got nothing!

I think if you mapped my strokes, I'm probably working in quite a bit of ear to nose in my ATG pass, and again at the touch-up stage. I otherwise start WTG, then XTG ear to nose, then the XTG pass.

What I'd love is if I could just walk away happy at the DFS point. I swear I usually spend nearly as much 'touching up' as I do on the main shave ! Granted, I get a flawless BBS when I do this...but it's time consuming.

As an experiment I'm moving back to my Fatboy (from an R41) and holding the dial at 5 or less. I can't get BBS at that setting with this razor so hoping it will cure my shave OCD...then I'll reserve BBS for special occasions.
