Here it is bloomed after a defunk lather. The second picture shows it next to the same knot in a bulb shape. I am going to need a bigger face.

I said that same thing to myself after defunking my brush...the bloom was... well, bigger than I anticipated but leathers like a dream.

Hey GolFisHunt, i was wondering if you knew the difference in the marine spar varnish and the marine spar urethane that you used (i bought some as well). The spar varnish i used on my first handle seemed to bring out the grain of the wood (and it gave it a nice color), will the helmsman spar do the same?

Varnish has a yellow tint that can add a little warmth to the color while the urethane is clear. I had the urethane to keep the maple in the landing net more white. The chemical difference, I can't recall. Either will work. And please, call me Dave.
