Broken blacktip SS. fixable??

A buddy of mine needs help, dropped his 1952 x3 blacktip ss and the tip snapped off. He sent a pic, which isnt all that great. I have a few SS razors but have never dropped (knock on wood) or disassembled one before. Any idea on repairing this razor? It has sentimental value to him. The tip can be inserted but of course turning it does nothing.

Looks like it snapped at the crimp. Part of it is still stuck inside.

Sorry, that didn't really answer your question.

Of course, anything is possible, but I foresee some problems getting it back into functional condition.
If you're going to try to glue it back together, how to get it lined up properly and stuck together, without accidentally sticking it to the handle or to the threaded rod?
If you're going to try to replace the knob, how to get the rest of it out and what to replace it with?
