Blade Hoarders Hedge Against Blade Arms Race

Um, I don't horde, I just believe in being prepared that's all.

I mean, so what if I have enough (DE & SE) blades to last me the next 8 years or so, right?

I met a gentleman yesterday while traveling who told me he has over 2,000 DE blades that he has bought over the past year!

This one caught my attention :

"Gillette Mach 3. I can easily shave without any shaving cream with that thing. Don't recall trying any other type of razor that has been as comfortable."

Either he has no feeling in his skin or is pulling our leg. Regardless, this is not be considered a typical reaction when shaving with a Mach 3 without lather. Dry shaving is hard on you and the blade.

In my late teens, when I worked retail, I kept a fistful of goodnews razors in the back room, for dry shaving... completely dry. At the time, my beard was not full, or anywhere near as thick and coarse as it is now. It worked. It's not nearly as comfortable as a nice wet shave, but you learn to live with it.

I would dry shave when I was out partying too hard to shave before work.
Grab the bic disposables from my desk, head to the bathroom and let er rip.
Id feel some tugging, but it actually wasnt too bad.

In the “bad old days” when I was driving an ambulance, I would sometimes have to freshen up in a Seven-Eleven restroom with liquid hand soap and the disposable razors we used to shave peoples chests before we shocked them. Terrible shave. But, it would get me through the rest of the shift. :thumbdown
