Before The Super Speed

While it's virtually impossible to collect every Gillette razor that was made (not counting that cat in Deutschland), I'm pretty happy to have locked down a certain segment. I do believe I have acquired every direct predecessor to the Super Speed, and here they are:

1937 Sheraton and 1938 Senator

1941 Ranger Tech and Milord

1946 Ranger Tech and Milord

Which all lead up to this:

Nice job, you've done well.

BTW, that cat in Deutschland (his name is Achim, mr razor) has a couple pictures of razors that belong to me....

Hey Achim, your collection has to be about the same size as mine by now ah?

Don't forget the British and Canadian models....

Superb post. Thank you for taking the time to put this up. Is the Milord simply a gold plated Ranger Tech? How do the shaves from the '41 compare to the '46? I think an experiment may be in the works here.

There was a milady on the bay, with case tonight.
It fetched a mere $22.83, plus shipping from Canada.
I would have bid higher, but had already committed too much money into stealing an aristocrat away from mr. scruffy.

edit: though, judging from the condition of your others, I don't think the case on tonights milady would have met your standards.

Sweet! That's a really nice grouping!

I am missing some of those yet. Still need a '46 Regent Tech, a '46 Milord (have a '47 Milord) and need a proper case for the '41 Milord. Just (finally!) got a Senator today, but it's not in the greatest shpe (we'll see when it gets cleaned up).

Did the Senator ever come in the same box as a Sheraton? Just curious...

The early ones yes. The later Milords are essentially gold plated Super Speeds. I have a '47 Milord (no notch) that is fully knurled, same configuration as a '47 Super Speed.
