Baxter Blue Brush - with pics

I was a lucky winner in the Carnival of Smiles and received a Baxter Blue silver tip brush in the mail today! They were kind enough to include tubes of their shave cream and AS gel, as well. I haven't seen any threads with pics of the Baxter Blue, so I thought I'd give you guys a peek. Don't mind the rat in the cup. SWMBO has been decorating for Halloween :wink2:

My only quality brush before this was an AOS fine badger. Needless to say, I was pretty excited about receiving this one. The first thing I noticed was how nice it felt out of the box. It has some heft! Feels very solid. I like it! Here she is out of the box.

For comparison, here are some other brushes. L-R: AOS Fine, Baxter Blue, VDH Boar, late '90's Body Shop synthetic.

I brewed up a cup of Teavana Tranquil Dreams, grabbed my kettle of hot water and headed in.

Yup, she's a looker.

I first tried lathering with the B.O.C. shave cream but gave up after three attempts. It just...disappeared after 15 or 20 swirls. So I reached for ol'-reliable-in-the-green-tube Proraso. Squeezed out my normal amount and watched the lather explode.

All ready to go!

How was it using the brush? Ahhhh luxury, thy name is silver tip! I've been pretty happy with my AOS brush and had wondered if a silver tip might be TOO soft and floppy. Nope. This brush felt great! It was soft, but not floppy.

Here it is after Kyle's prep, 3 passes and a touch up. It's not ready to stop, yet!

Finally, here is the Baxter and AOS in all their bloomin' glory.

I actually didn't think I'd ever get a silver tip brush, so a big thanks to B&B and Baxter for this great gift. I shall sleep a happy man tonight.

Even the stuffed rodents are suicidal lately... A few weeks ago I was cleaning gravel looking for sapphires, and I figured I might do some more soon, so I just left the water in a 5 gallon bucket out on the porch. 2 days later I find 2 mice drowned in the bucket.

Now that I've babbled on long enough and off topic... Nice brush Saxmoore! :w00t::drool:

Thanks guys!

I picked up the bowl at a World Market a few months back. It is the perfect size and has just the right amount of roughness. The only downside is that it is thin and doesn't hold heat very well.

will it float in hot water? I do that with mine when time allows. (I found a weird looking rice dish that works great but is thin walled)

It does float. I have to be careful with the amount of water in the sink when I've got the brush in it, though. It'll tip and get a tsunami of water over the side ruining my lather, hehe.

"Got Shoes?"
Thanks for those great pics. Thanks to Baxter of California.

See that? Another happy winner at the B&B Carnival of Smiles. :thumbup1:

Maybe you could be next.

yep - brush placement is critical, that's for sure. Makes one ponder scuttles.

Nice brush. Do you think Muhle makes it? I see from their site it is Made in Germany and they also sell a Muhle bog oak brush. Looks nice and hefty!

Someone had mentioned that it is probably a Muhle in another thread since they are "partners". There are some brushes on the Muhle site with the same design, although not in silver tip. This seems like a good value for the price.

That would make sense that it's a Muhle brush. Pretty sure the razor they sell on the site has been noted to be a rebranded Muhle razor. I LOVE this brush color and I'm definitely picking one up as my first REAL brush. The baxter blue color is unmistakable. :w00t:

On a side note, did you ever use the shaving cream/gel again? I'm interested in the performance of their Super Close formula.
